Kat is the founder of Vets On Wheels. She graduated in 2006 from the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki, Greece. She did several externships including Bristol Veterinary University as well as at the Hippodrome Clinic of Cagnes Sur Mer, and soon after, an Internship at the University Of Liverpool’s Philip Leverhulme Equine Hospital. She then went into equine private practice in the UK, working with Swanbridge Vets in Hull and CJ Greens in Sheffield while completing a certificate specialising in Equine practice. While working in the UK she set up Vets On Wheels in Malta, a fully equipped ambulatory service which was much needed on the islands. She developed the practice over the years, until finally, in 2018 she opened the first Equine Surgical Facilities in Malta. She was a long-standing member of the Malta Veterinary Council, was co-founder of the Malta Horse Society, and offers services as a consultant in the veterinary sector. She is a mother of two boys and enjoys swimming, sailing and traveling in her little free time.

Dr. Justin has always loved and cared for animals ever since he was a young boy. His vocation and passion has led him to take up his studies and graduating from The University of Veterinary Medicine and Pharmacy in Košice, Slovakia with excellence.
As a student, Justin had chosen Vets On Wheels as one of his adoptive practices and joined the Vets On Wheels team as a qualified Vet immediately after graduating. Justin has integrated very well with his team-working capabilities, demeanour and permanent smile. His dedication to treat every animal as if it where his own has made him stand out from day one. Justin aspires to continue furthering his studies and expertise through specialisation.
When he is not saving animals, Justin is cooking, supporting his favourite football team, and doing various DIY projects. He especially enjoys bird keeping and training his three dogs Hook, Kaya and Russia.

Kurt Vella studied for the Diploma in Animal Care at MCAST. His role at Vets On Wheels is to greet customers at reception, direct calls, and help out the nurses when needed. His love for animals is visibly seen by the empathy he shows to our clients and their loved ones, especially when they are in need of urgent and intensive care. He has his own set of responsibilities at home as he has to take care of his pony "Bianca" and his dog called "Trouble".

He qualified as a veterinary surgeon from Cambridge University in 1981. Since then he has worked in both first opinion and referral veterinary practice. He obtained the Diploma in Veterinary Radiology from the Royal College of Veterinary Surgeons in 1983, and was awarded a PhD from the University on Bristol in 1986 for research elucidating the role of mechanical factors on fracture healing. During his career he has taught at veterinary and medical schools both in the UK and abroad. He has also worked on a number of varied research projects from which the results have been directly applicable to both human and veterinary medicine. He has published widely in the scientific literature and has been involved in examining veterinary students both in the UK and abroad. Away from veterinary medicine he has a long-standing interest in history, and in the last 10 years has published two biographies.

Claire joined Vets on Wheels in September 2019. She graduated from University of Liverpool in 2010. Claire's first job was in mixed practice before starting an internship at Rossdale’s Equine Hospital in Newmarket were she became experienced in the diagnosis and management of lameness as well as a wide range of sport horse conditions. Claire’s particular interest is in lameness and surgery and in October 2013 she started a ‘Residency in Equine Surgery’ at the University of Liverpool, during which she gained experience in all types of surgery and complex lameness investigation. Claire holds the certificate in advanced veterinary practice in equine soft tissue surgery and equine orthopaedic surgery with a particular interest in orthopaedic imaging. Claire also holds a masters degree in the investigation of septic joints and has publications on septic joints and eye surgery. Claire’s research led to invitations to speak at the European and American College of Veterinary Surgeons Congresses in 2015 and 2016, and a BEVA regional meeting in 2018. Claire is also an FEI permitted treating vet. From 2017-19 Claire worked at Nantwich Equine Clinic,UK where she was responsible for equine surgeries and lameness investigations. Outside of work Claire enjoys riding, distance running, and walking her three dogs Oakley, Frank and Stanley

Having spent many years working in banking and finance, she is now managing our clinic, co-ordinating the staff and helping owners and clients deal with their everyday queries….always with a big smile! Her dedication reflects her passion for anything equine!
